The geothermal power industry has stagnated under the weight of tired approaches to project development. Adage’s innovative exploration program confirmed an attractive geothermal resource and avoided over $1 million of risk capital expenditures.
Joaquina is a high-enthalpy resource with estimated temperature of 180-200+ degrees C at depth and thermal output in the 20+MW range. Resource characteristics are similar to many successfully-developed fields.
Positive project attributes include situation in-fence of a local gold mine, proximity to grid interconnection, strong governmental support, and attractive off-take alternatives. Once completed, the project will provide enough renewable energy for thousands of homes along with local employment and business opportunities.
